Prompt 6: Amphitrite
Amphitrite is the goddess of the sea, wife of Poseidon, and eldest of the fifty Nereides. She is the female personification of the ocean: the mother of fish, seals and dolphins. Poseidon chose Amphitrite from among her sisters as the Nereids performed a dance on the isle of Naxos. Refusing his offer of marriage, she fled to Atlas. The dolphin-god Delphin eventually tracked her down and persuaded her to return to wed the sea-king. She also bred sea monsters, and her great waves crashed against the rocks, putting sailors at risk.
Bonus Prompt: Scylla & Charybdis
I. Amphitrite & II. Scylla and Charybdis
Speaking of the sea and sea monsters, there was this anime I watched almost 20 years ago at Cartoon Network. It was weird but the animation was very good. I remember it was post-apocalyptic because the seas had risen and covered the land. The humans were fighting sea creatures and hybrids.
Yesterday, I finally found the title. It's called "Blue Submarine No. 6" and is based on a manga. I thought it was a movie but it's a 4 episode anime.

Here is the IMDB summary: "In the future, the rising temperature of the Earth has melted the polar ice caps. As a result, the planet's last remaining land masses are in danger of sinking into the ocean. As if humanity didn't have enough problems, an army of ocean-dwelling creatures led by the scientist Zorndyke have seemingly declared war on mankind. Humanity's last hopes rest with the state-of-the-art vessel, Blue Submarine 6 and her crew. Can Tetsu ahd Mayumi stop Zorndyke's mutant army and save what remains of humanity?"
I didn't know there was a lot of censoring being done when it was shown on Cartoon Network so maybe that's why it seemed so disjointed when I watched it. But the end scene really stayed with me because there is a part where the antagonist Verg swipes his finger on the cheek of a crying human and says something that goes like this: "Tastes like the sea", and then he walks away from the humans.
I found a YouTube video of this scene; it's at the 1:38 mark. Don't mind the title, it's click-bait.
or watch on YouTube
Verg is the large shark-man hybrid (he also looks like part bear). Mutio is the aquatic girl (I don't know what animal hybrid she is a hybrid of, maybe dolphin).
I still think about the ending.
I recently finished a book which involves an alien sea creature as the main character. It's called "Alien Monster" by Calista Skye. It's a paranormal sci-fi romance with adventure and drama. I didn't expect to like it as much but I had fun reading about the tech and the motivations of the characters.

Here is the goodreads summary.

It's how I feel about the sea too.

I remember turning to cartoon network one day when I was young and seeing that, and then never seeing anything like it again, and Blue Submarine 06 feels like it could be it. That scene REALLY stuck with me through the years.

Hayami the human returned Mutio the fish woman back into the water.
