Prompt 5: Pan
Part man and part goat, Pan is a nature god well known in many mythologies. Born in Arcadia to Hermes and a dryad, Pan was a precocious child whose goat’s feet and horned head delighted the gods, but startled the mortals he lived nearer to; Pan did not live on Mount Olympus, but rather in the forests and wilds of Arcadia. Pan famously invented a musical instrument: the syrinx, or pan pipes as they are more commonly known. He is known for his haunting melodies, and music was often a central part to his worship.
Bonus Prompt: Chimaera
I. Pan
Pan is associated with nature and music and I thought of how at tumblr there are posts about Hozier and how he's still sleeping in a bog somewhere. Hozier is a singer and his songs sometimes contain mythological mentions like Orpheus and Eurydice (yeah, I should have shared about him for the first prompt: Hades) and rustic imagery.
Anyway, here is a meme from tumblr:

I'd also like to share the song "In the Woods Somewhere" by Hozier. Below is a link to an audio edit which makes it sound like you're listening in the woods:

(tw: horror i guess because of the lyrics)
When I think of Pan, I remember Peter Pan (2003). In this movie, Peter Pan is an immortal boy who wears leaves and plays the flute. It is said that the god Pan scared people with his loud shout (inspiring panic in people). There is a scene in the movie where Peter Pan shouts for joy and it's like a sonic wave which blows back the pirates.

The Pan prompt also reminds me of this scifi romance book series called Ice Planet Barbarians by Ruby Dixon. The aliens are huge blue horned creatures who have a symbiote inside them which sings/vibrates when they meet their mate. I think this is Pan-inspired since Pan is connected to fertility and these symbiotes "sing" when the host finds the one person who they can have an offspring with. I found this to be a fun read and have been following the series. My favorite is Barbarian Alien (it's the 2nd book in the Ice Planet Barbarians series).

Here's another book where the horns are visible. It's from the Icehome series by the same author of Ice Planet Barbarians, Ruby Dixon. It's about a different pairing.

II. Chimaera
I mentioned Icehome series in the previous prompt and there is a character in the series which fits the chimaera prompt. In "Willa's Beast", the titular beast is Gren. He arrives on the beach along with other gladiators but the gladiators don't know what kind of creature he is. He has bits and pieces of different creatures in him (like the texture of his skin is similar to the blue alien's skin, his hair is rough like the golden alien's, and he has claws like the red aliens... I might be confusing the details because I haven't read it in a while). Gren is a mishmash of creatures like the chimaera which was a hybrid creature.

I can also relate the Hulk to the Chimaera. In Hulk 2003, Bruce Banner is born with altered DNA courtesy of his father; David Banner experimented on himself and passed on the modifications to Bruce. Bruce becomes the Hulk when he is hit with Gamma Radiation which triggers a defense mechanism in his body. (tw: body horror; I think there is a scene of animal dissection but there's no blood)
or watch on YouTube
Below is a picspam I made of some scenes from the movie which show some of the animal basis of Bruce's Hulk.

The animals are: jellyfish for green bioluminescence, starfish for regeneration, sea cucumber for tissue hardening, and a lizard for toxin neutralization.
