A long time ago, I used to collect small books called Great Illustrated Classics. One of the titles was The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexander Dumas. It's a tale of patience and revenge. The protagonist is falsely imprisoned but reinvents himself and seeks justice for his circumstances. The book I have is a condensed version and is easy to read and understand. It has drawings every few pages to help you visualize what's happening in the story.
