It's still a couple of hours before sunrise but Sam is awake.
He silently walks down the stairs, careful to avoid the creaky steps. Sam goes to the kitchen to make coffee and sees Bucky placing sandwiches in a lunch bag. An open thermos is on the table along with an insulated mug. The coffee maker is already percolating and when it's ready, Sam pours it into the thermos and the rest into the mug which they leave for Sarah.
They move silently in the house to keep Sarah and the kids from waking up. Once they have their jackets on, they softly close the door behind them when they leave the house.
Sam and Bucky get into the car and drive to the docks. When they arrive on the boat, Sam goes to check the engine while Bucky checks the lines and nets. They don't need to talk much, having planned it all the previous day. Usually, Sarah captains the Paul and Darlene but today it's just the two of them on the boat.
Sam comes up from the engine room and goes to the bridge. He radios the Coast Guard about their fishing schedule. Sam looks at the pictures on the wall; there are old ones of his parents, some from his and Sarah's childhood, and a couple of new pictures with AJ and Cass.
Sam joins Bucky at the back of the boat. He tells Sam that everything is ready while giving him the sandwiches he packed. It's a cold morning but the hot coffee in the thermos chases away the chill. The repetitive sound of waves lapping on the sides of the boat is lulling.
After finishing their breakfast, Sam steers the boat away from the docks and to open water. It's slow going but there's no rush. The Paul and Darlene reaches deeper water where they release the fishing net and wait. It takes a while until the net is full.
The sky is lightening but the sun hasn't risen yet when they return to unload their catch at the docks. They clean the boat and check the nets to see what needs to be mended before going home.
Sarah is drinking coffee in the kitchen when they arrive at the house.
"Good morning, Sarah", Bucky says with a smile.
"Good morning", Sarah replies while trying to hide her smile with the cup.
Sam rolls his eyes at the shameless flirting happening in front of him. He suspects these two exaggerate their behavior whenever he's around them. Sam goes up the stairs to wash and change before helping in the kitchen.
